Newcastle University is delighted to announce three scholarship awards for Indonesia for students commencing postgraduate studies in September 2014.

The Newcastle University ASEAN Scholarship merit-based award is partial tuition fee scholarship with a value of £3,000 for Indonesian nationals who intend to register for postgraduate studies (one year Master’s programmes) at Newcastle University, commencing in September 2014.

Successful applicants will be awarded a partial tuition fee scholarship of £3,000 in their chosen postgraduate programme and the value of the scholarships will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account to reduce the overall cost of tuition fees.

The University awards the ASEAN scholarships on the basis of academic merit and other information which can be found on the postgraduate ASEAN scholarship application form (the application link can be found in the how to apply section below).

Eligibility
Applicants must fulfil below requirements to be considered for this award :
  • be a national of (or permanently domiciled in) Indonesia 
  • have submitted application and been offered a place for academic year 2014/15 on a postgraduate (Master’s) programme
  • have been assessed as international (overseas) for fees purposes
  • not be in receipt of any other fully-funded or partially-funded scholarship or sponsorship
  • have submitted a scholarship application form

International Hotel Management Scholarships, Stenden University Bali

Stenden University Bali offers scholarships for Indonesian students with outstanding study results and a strong interest in hospitality management.

The scholarship is offered for September 2014 intake, with provisions of: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% (full) discount of tuition fees depending on the candidate’s academic achievement, motivation and extra-curricular activities.

Criteria                                                            
  • Must be an Indonesian citizen;
  • Must be in year 12 (2014) or graduated in 2011, 2012 or 2013;
  • Must have outstanding study results from high school (above average);
  • Must be highly motivated to study International Hospitality Management at Stenden University Bali.
How to Apply
  • A completed and signed Application Form.
  • Candidates who are in their year 12 must submit high school transcripts of year 10, 11 and semester 1 of year 12. The transcripts must showcase study results which are above high school average. Transcripts which are in Indonesian must be translated into English by an official translator.
  • Candidates who already graduated from high school must submit complete transcripts of year 10, 11 and 12 and a copy of certified final transcript (UAN or other equivalent final year transcript depending on the school’s curriculum) as well as a copy of certified high school diploma. The transcripts must showcase study results which are above high school average. Transcripts which are in Indonesian must be translated into English by an official translator.
  • IELTS (minimum overall score 6, with no sub scores under 5) or TOEFL iBT (minimum score 79). Candidates who studied for a minimum of 2 years at a high school where English was the language of instruction are not required to submit IELTS or TOEFL test score.
  • Motivation letter which explains why the candidate should earn a scholarship. The motivation letter can be up to 1500 words and will serve as a true representation of the candidate’s motivation and candidate’s best writing by taking into account level of English, content of the letter, writing style, structure of the letter and argumentation.
  • Minimum one recommendation letter of a teacher or school principal demonstrating the candidate’s academic competence as well as good character and motivation.
  • Minimum one recommendation letter from a non-academic reference, e.g. company, organization, etc.
  • Academic awards, certificates of extra courses or other proofs of achievements.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English, containing information about study, work and other (relevant) activities.
  • One passport sized (4x6) coloured photo.
  • Copy of KTP or passport.

Adelaide International Undergraduate Scholarships (AIUS)

The University of Adelaide offers a scholarship program for commencing international students undertaking undergraduate study. Scholarships in this program have the following conditions:
  • Available for commencing international undergraduate students only;
  • Open to citizens of any country (except Australia and New Zealand);
  • Provides a waiver of 25% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the program, up to a maximum of four years;
  • Up to 40 scholarships available each year;
  • Available for study in any discipline except Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Oral Health and Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience);
  • Open to eligible applicants completing Foundation Studies or secondary studies overseas or in Australia, or those transferring into the later years of an undergraduate degree with advanced standing.

Academic Eligibility
  • The selection process for the Adelaide International Undergraduate Scholarships is competitive, with academic achievement forming the main basis for scholarship selection. As a general guide, the University of Adelaide will consider applicants who have achieved an academic level which is the equivalent of a GPA of 6/7 (85%) for a scholarship.
  • As the aim of the scholarship program is to attract excellent applicants from a wide range of countries, factors such as country of citizenship and program of study may also be taken into consideration in some cases in the scholarship selection process.

Application Process
  • Applicants may apply online for a scholarship at any time
  • Applicants must have received an offer of admission from the University before lodging their scholarship application (applicants with a conditional offer may apply, but will need to accept and meet the conditions of their offer before a scholarship can be confirmed)
  • Scholarship selection is based on academic merit (in certain cases country of citizenship and program of study may also be taken into consideration when awarding scholarships)
  • Applications will be considered and scholarships offered on a rolling basis until all scholarships have been awarded
  • Successful applicants will be notified within 4 to 6 weeks of lodging the scholarship application; unsuccessful applicants will NOT be contacted.

Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are internationally competitive, merit-based scholarships provided by the Australian Government that support citizens of the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development programmes in Australia and for Australians to undertake these programmes overseas. The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships programme forms part of the Australia Awards initiative established in 2009, which brings together under one banner scholarships offered by the Department of Education (the Department), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.

Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships build Australia’s reputation for excellence in the provision of education, support the internationalisation of the Australian higher education and research sectors and offer high-achieving Australians opportunities to increase their knowledge and expertise in their field.

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships aim to :
  • develop on going educational, research and professional links between individuals, organisations and countries
  • increase the skills and global awareness of high achieving individuals from Australia and overseas
  • contribute to Australia’s reputation as high quality provider of education and training and a leader in research and innovation
  • increase the productivity of Australians through international study, research or professional development experience

As a scholarship of fellowship recipient, you will gain invaluable international experience in study,research or professional development.

Australian recipients also receive support to undertake targeted research, professional development or internships overseas.

The Department engaged contractor to provide post-selection support service to all recipients including :
  • a dedicated case manager;
  • pre-departure briefings;
  • provision of advice on health;
  • travel insurance;
  • accommodation;
  • security;
  • payment of allowances;
  • and reporting to the Department on the recipient’s progress.

All recipients will receive :
  • travel allowance: $3,000 (Provision to pay up to $4,500 under special circumstances)
  • establishment allowance: $2,000 (Fellowships) or $4,000 (Scholarships)
  • monthly stipend: $3,000 (paid up to the maximum progamme duration on a pro-rata basis)
  • health insurance for the full programme duration (OSHC for non-Australians)
  • travel insurance (excluding during programme for non-Australians)

Endeavour Scholarshiprecipients will also receive tuition fees paid up to the maximum study/ research duration on a pro-rata basis.

Tuition includes student service and amenities fees.

How do I submit my application?
  • Applications must be submitted using the Endeavour Online Application system

When should I submit my application?

Before 11:59 pm (AEST) 30 June 2014. Applicants are encouraged to commence their applications early and submit their application as early as possible due to the large volume of users on the system on the final opening days of submission.

Submitting early ensures that you will not have any last minute technical problems due to the large number of applications being submitted.

What happens if my applications is late?

The Endeavour Online Application system will not allow you to work on your application after the closing date. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

How can I be sure my application has been submitted?
  • The Endeavour Online Application system will not allow you to submit your application unless your application unless your application is complete. Once you have completed your application through the Endeavour Online Application system a submit button will appear
  • Once you click on the submit button you will receive a system generated email advising you that your application has successfully been submitted through the Endeavour Online Application system. Please keep a copy of this email for your records. If you have submitted but did not receive a notification email, you may contact the Endeavour Management Team.
  • Can I submit my application via post?
  • We recommend that you use the Endeavour Online Application system. If you do ot have reliable internet access and are unable to apply online, you can request a hardcopy application form by sending an email stating your country of citizenship and/ or permanent residency, the reason you are unable to apply online and the Scholarship and Fellowship you wish to apply for to endeavour@education.gov.au
  • Please note that applications submitted on previous round Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship application forms will not be accepted

Can I apply for more than one Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship category?
  • Applicants can not apply for a category in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship. Applicants may only submit one application per Endeavour category
  • Applicants must use the same email log in address for each Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship the apply for. Please do not apply for more than one Endeavour Scholarship and Fellwship of the same category using different email adresses or the application will be automatically deleted in the Endeavour Online Application system

I have previously completed a Government Scholarship/Fellowship, can I apply again?
  • To be eligible to receive an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship an applicant must not currently hold or have completed, since 1 January 2013, an Australian Government sponsored scholarship and/ or fellowship (directly administered to recipients by the Australian Government)
  • Applicants are not eligible to apply for an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship in a categoy in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship

Can I have my application returned to me?
  • You can preview and print a copy of your application at any time
  • Please refer to the Step by Step Guide to using the Endeavour Online Application system
  • Applications and supporting documents received by post will not be returned

Do I have to be a certain age to be eligible for an Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship?
  • Recipients must be aged 18 years or over at the commencement of their programme
  • There is no maximum age limit

What are the success rates and number of Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship available?
  • The Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship are the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarships programme

Currently theprogramme offers around 500 Scholarship and Fellowship per year however, the Department is unable to estimate how many there might be for any one country/category in any one year as the number of Endeavour Scholarship an Fellowships offered varies annually depending upon financial commitments, levels of demand and the number of meritorious application received for each category.

Although Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship are a merit based, competitive process, the final selection is also required to support current Australian Government priorities and strategic policy objectives and may target specific countries and regions for Scholarship and Fellowship.

While we publish the names of successful applicants, we do not publish application data or success rate as we believe that this is not a true Indicator of success given the number and quality of applications varies significantly each year. We would also not like to discourage high caliber applicants from  applying.

Will successful and unsuccessful applicants be notified of the outcome?

Yes. Both unsuccessful and successful applicants are notified of the outcome via email once the selection process is completed.

If my application has been unsuccessful, can I be provided with information as to why?
  • Due to the high volume of applications received, the Department does not provided individual feedback on why an application was unsuccessful
  • There may be a number of reasons why an application does not pass through to the next stage of the selection process

Eligibility
  • Students from all other countries excluding EU countries, China, South Korea or Japan will be automatically assessed for academic-related fee scholarship worth £2,500 or £3,500, based on your entry qualifications
  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught (not Postgraduate Research) – available across all Schools
  • All full-time courses based at the University of Bradford (excluding MBA, distance learning and external)

Criteria and Amount
  • These scholarship are automatically processed by the University and no separate application is required
  • The amount of scholarship that you are entitled to will be shown on your offer letter.
  • Although you may apply for more than one scholarship, you can only receive one scholarship from the University

Undergraduate entry
  • Country equivalent of BBB at A-level will result in a £2,500 fee scholarship. The scholarship will be paid in subsequent years if progressing with an average of 50% or above
  • Country equivalent of AAB at A-level will result in a £3,500 fee scholarship. The scholarship will be paid in subsequent years if progressing with an average of 60% or above

Postgraduate entry
  • Country equivalent of 2:1 at degree-level will result in a £2,500 fee scholarship
  • Country equivalent of first-class Honours at degree-level will result in a £3,500 fee scholarship

Number of scholarship available
  • Available for all who eligibility criteria
  • Students on discounted partnership progammers are not entitled to this scholarship
